On Saturday, August 27, 7:16 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of pedestrians struck in front of 601 Beach 20th Street.

Upon arrival, police observed a 59-year-old male — since identified as Milton Storch, 59 — with severe injuries to the torso.  A preliminary investigation revealed that the operator of a 2019 black Honda Accord while outside of her vehicle, became involved in a physical altercation with a female pedestrian on the sidewalk.

When the altercation ended, the operator of the Honda Accord reentered her vehicle while the other involved female started to walk south on the west sidewalk towards New Haven Avenue.  The vehicle operator then backed the vehicle onto the sidewalk and proceeded to rapidly accelerate her vehicle forward, striking Storch seated on a blue rollator mobility walker.

The operator fled the scene by traveling south on Beach 20th Street and then making a right turn onto westbound New Haven Avenue.

EMS responded and transported the 59-year-old male to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. There have been no arrests and the investigation by the 101st Precinct Detective Squad is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the squad at (718) 868-3429.

  1. Perfect community for five to six thousand affordable low income housing. A community almost devoid of any reasonable social services. A community overwhelmed by litter, garbage, abandoned cars and residents who believe their dog wastes are someone else’s responsibility. Failing schools and a dying commercial district. Maybe the city should first study how Far Rockaway which was a vibrant beautiful beach side community with a strong commercial district became no more than a series of daily stories of shootings and robbery and filth!
