Hundreds of children and adults enjoyed a massive holiday party hosted by the Battalion Pentecostal Assembly Church Community Outreach on Saturday, December 21st.

Kids had a great time tearing into presents at the gathering, which took place at the church at 454 Beach 67th Street in Arverne. Each child received a gift from Santa hatted church members on the first floor.

Youngsters from newborn to 12 years old even got to meet and greet with Santa himself.

Families wound their way up to the second floor where they enjoyed juice boxes, franks, macaroni and cheese and other delights.

The holiday party was especially presented for children affected by Hurricane Sandy. Many children and families missed celebrating the holidays, including Thanksgiving and Halloween, last year due to the storm.

Church organizers stated their goal was to bring “back the Christmas spirit back to the Rockaways.”

Judging by the excitement and smiles of the children who attended, it appeared they had succeeded.
