Artist Chris Preston points to his birthplace of Bolton in the northwest United Kingdom on his hand drawn map of the world now on exhibition at the Rockaway Artists Alliance T-7 gallery. The colorful, playful wall-sized map was created, with some geographic and artistic license, to celebrate NYC’s seventh annual Immigrant Heritage Week. Representing the Rockaways for the second year in a row, RAA invites everyone to come and make their mark and note the countries from which they and their families have come. Visitors may also bring vintage photos (photocopies only) to add to the montage of family histories on the adjoining wall. The exhibition 40 Shades of Green, and the world, will be on view until Sunday May 23. Gallery hours are Saturdays and Sunday from 12-4 p.m. (Photo by Dan Guarino) 061p1.jpg
