The Aviator 13’s volleyball club team took second place at the GEVA (Garden Empire Volleyball Association) regional championships in Denville, NJ. GEVA consist of all teams from New York and New Jersey. The girls were just short of winning and going to the Junior National Championships in Reno, Nevada to represent the region. For the season they took first place in two out of the five tournaments they entered. Throughout the season, the girls showed their strong determination and their ability not to give up. The team consisted of sixth-, seventh and eighth-graders. Most of the players were playing above their age level. Despite this obstacle, they always found a way to win using their excellent defensive skills and they displayed their team spirit. The team consisted of: Kimberly Sluyk, Alesse Sammon, Caroline Kane, Casey Mcdade, Shannon Twomey, Brittney Sheriff, Morgan Henderson, Laura Keim, Jackie Banker, Katie Williams and Jim Sluyk.
