Shown is a photo of the first of the New York City Carnegie Libraries to open in Queens. The one-story brick building located in Far Rockaway was dedicated in August 1904 and was destroyed by fire in 1962. A replacement branch was built in 1967 and has stood on the same site since. 057p1_xlg.jpg
