Additional Information Rockaway Civic Association MISSION
To preserve and improve the physical, social and economic health of our community. Support neighborhood self-reliance and enhance the quality of life for the residents through community-based problem solving, neighborhood-oriented services and public/private cooperation

- In the protection & improvement of the quality of life in our area.

- Every voice deserves to be listened to. Encouraging debate and seeking to understand different points views from our members increases the likelihood of making good decisions and enhances the group's sense of ownership of decisions. We will provide a forum for our membership to voice their ideas, opinions and concerns on community issues and to inform city government with our community input.

- Our neighborhood is a living dynamic system. We must do everything in our power to protect our community from development which threatens this dynamic.

- Small business owners are the economic backbone of our community. We seek to create and maintain an environment that encourages local investment.

Our philosophy is to view the Rockaway Peninsula with a holistic perspective. Unfortunately, representation from one organization for the entire Peninsula is not our goal or realistic. Our primary area of focus is within the postal codes on 11692, 11693 and 11694.

Rockaway Civic does not endeavor to displace any existing community organizations but provide homeowners, residents and businesses alike the ability to choose an organization which is representative of the mission, values and advocacy they desire for their community.

Rockaway Civic strives to work with all existing community organizations for the benefit and common good of our Peninsula.
