All of the action seemed to center on Beach 116 Street last Sunday afternoon, June 8, when thousands crowded the beach to get away from the record heat by spending some time in the cool Atlantic Ocean. It all turned ugly on June 8, however, when at least one shot was fired in the vicinity of the shopping street and a young man was stabbed in the arm. Late in the afternoon, police from the 100 Precinct and the Patrol Borough Queens South Task Force moved the throng from the beach, sending them either to the subway or to adjacent beaches.
