Yamir Adames, a P.S./M.S. 43 student, created one thousand paper cranes using the ancient art of “origami” or paper folding during the fifth grade two years ago. It took her a year to complete the cranes, which are a symbol of peace and harmony. She appeared in The Wave newspaper in June 2002 holding a sample of her origami cranes in her hand. The one thousand cranes are displayed in the main office of the school. Adames, now a seventh grader, is busy folding another one thousand cranes! Adames shares her talent for paper folding and a message of peace throughout P.S./M.S. 43.
