The two young children in this July, 1972 picture are enjoying the kiddie rides at Playland. Tens of thousands of other children and adults did likewise. Today, Playland is only a memory for those tens of thousands of people and the Rockaway Museum would like to tap into those memories. The museum is preparing a major exhibition for the end of the year, entitled “A Playland Retrospective.” The museum is interested in remembrances from anybody who enjoyed Playland during its glory years (or, even its declining years). The museum is also seeking photos, movies, artifacts, etc. from the famous Rockaway amusement park. Those interested in providing those remembrances, pictures and artifacts should contact the museum through The Wave.
