Ms. Schleifman’s second grade class at P.S. 225Q had an exciting afternoon when they set their butterflies free! The students have been monitoring the butterflies’ growth as they observed them going through their life cycle. Three weeks ago, they began as caterpillars and quickly formed into the pupa stage. The class recorded the progress in their nature journals on a daily basis. Finally, last week the pupae opened and out came five painted lady butterflies. In the classroom, the children assisted in feeding and caring for the butterflies in the butterfly garden. On Friday afternoon, class 2-211 went outside to release the butterflies and say goodbye!061p1_lg.jpg
