Peninsula Hospital Center recently welcomed Nana Karikari Appau II, Paramount Chief of the Bekwai Ashanti Traditional Area in Ghana, Africa. He rules over 40,000 villages and 500,000 people. Robert V. Levine, President and Chief Executive Officer at PHC met with Nana Appau II to discuss possibilities of offering an exchange educational program to doctors and nurses from the 50-bed hospital in Ghana, the Bekwai District Hospital. “I was delighted to meet with Nana Appau II and learn about their customs and traditions in healthcare and treating the sick,” stated Mr. Levine. Also on hand at this meeting was William Ankobiah, M.D., an attending physician in Pulmonary Medicine at PHC and a member of the royal family of the Ashanti tribe.
