At Top: A group of volunteers celebrated the JP Morgan CHASE “Global Day of Service” at Gateway’s Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. For the third time this year they spent the day working on resource management projects. Together with Don Riepe, the Jamaica Bay Guardian, they removed invasive exotic plant species from newly planted pines and cedars. “Invasive plants such as Asian Bittersweet vines are covering up and shading out many of the native plants” said Andrew Baksh, the team leader, “and we’re glad to provide this service to the National Park.” Pictured: JP Morgan CHASE volunteers braved the rain last Saturday to help control invasive plant species at the Jamaica Bay Refuge. 017p2_xlg.jpg
