Peninsula Hospital Center (PHC) recently hosted a conference for all local hospital and nursing home administrators to discuss emergency preparedness plans for our community. The guest speakers were Samuel Benson, Director of Health and Medical Preparedness for the New York City Office of Emergency Management, Edward Gabriel, Deputy Commissioner, Preparedness for the New York City Office of Emergency Management, and Doris Varlese, Associate General Counsel, Greater New York Hospital Association. “The importance of this conference comes from recent experiences with tragic emergencies,” explains Robert V. Levine, President and Chief Executive Officer at PHC. “Our primary goal is to share our experiences and offer suggestions for how we can strengthen our work together to further improve plans for any future emergency challenges,” Levine added. This conference along with future meetings are essential in the ongoing efforts by Peninsula Hospital Center and other local healthcare facilities to assure the community that they will be prepared to operate efficiently for any future emergencies.
