While looking through the May 13, 2005 issue of the Wave, Marion Christie Hull recognized her mother, Edythe Oschmann Christie, in a Far Rockaway High School Class of 1934 photo. Hull was familiar with the graduation photo, as she was shown it many times while growing up, but it was lost for several years. Hull was able to identify another face, Frances Santamore, in the picture. Edythe was a Broad Channel resident and met her future husband, Robert Christie, a Rockaway native, through Santamore during ‘Senior Day’ at Far Rockaway High School in 1934. Hull enclosed a photo of her parents from that first meeting, with Frances on the left, Robert in the center and Edythe on the right. Robert Christie passed away in 1986 and Edythe in 2003, yet Hull continues to subscribe to The Wave and “was so pleased to have a copy of the photo” which could not be found for many years.143p1_lg.jpg
