Local firefighters raised the American Flag to half-staff at the new Tribute Park at sundown on Sunday, September 11, to honor those who died in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center four years earlier. While the park will not be officially open for another month, approximately 100 local politicians, activists and family members gathered on the looming darkness to raise the flag and honor the dead. Pictured, somebody entered the park prior to the ceremony and left a single rose nearby the carved firefighter’s helmet on the Firefighter’s Memorial. 001p1_xlg.jpg
