Above: On July 4, the residents of Beach 131 Street assembled at 10:00 a.m. sharp at the November 12, 2001 plane crash site on Newport Avenue. After a roll call honoring friends and neighbors who perished September 11, 2001 and November 12, 2001, the rag-tag marchers lead by Jimmy Rigaut (Age 2) substituting as Grand Marshall for his grandpa Walter Douglass who passed away recently, the marchers proceeded to “Old Glory Plaza” at the Beach Wall. Below: After a moment of silence in memory of Chief Douglas, all joined in singing the star spangled banner and the festivities came to a close. 011p1_lg.jpg
