The Benson Evacuation company of Brooklyn was working on a new installation on the 200 block of Beach 134 Street last Friday afternoon at about 2 p.m., when the workmen compromised a gas pipe that sprung a hole, spewing gas into the air. Emergency responders were especially worried because PS 114, an elementary school is on the next block and, in fact, the smell permeated the school. Pictured, firefights wait for officials to cut off the gas service to the pipe.163p1_xlg.jpg
