The 1952 Memorial Day Parade took place only seven years after the end of World War II and just as the Korean Police Action was spiraling out of control. Hundreds of Veterans and local groups marched proudly east on Rockaway Beach Boulevard. Where were these photographs taken? Perhaps you can tell us where and something about not only the marchers, but about the stores and homes they passed. This picture was taken at Beach 73 Street. A Wave editor remembers Dr. Louis Hoffner and his home/office on the corner. In fact, if you look closely you can see the doctor’s wife, Mildred, on the second floor balcony.030p1_xlg.jpg
