The American Diabetes Association held Diabetes Alert Day on March 22, at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital and other locations across New York City to help identify those at risk for diabetes. Because diabetes is a “silent disease,” damage to the body’s vital organs could occur without an outward sign. More than 60 people were screened for diabetes that day at St. John’s.
