A Belle Rock taxicab burst into flames Monday afternoon on the corner of Beach 130 Street and Newport Avenue. The fire devoured the car’s hood and spread throughout the interior and trunk leaving the vehicle charred from bumper to bumper. The taxi driver, who was the only person in the vehicle at the time, escaped without injuries. The smoky spectacle caught the interest of about two dozen students from nearby Yeshiva Mercaz Hatorah. A FDNY spokesperson said 12 units responded and brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes. Photo By Susan Locke002p1_xlg.jpg
