The badly decomposed body of a man was discovered on Monday off Beach 119 Street. Lifeguards pulled the body to shore at about 3 p.m. Although police officials declined to identify the body, it is widely believed that it is Nelson Graciano, who was last seen struggling in the surf at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27. A massive search that lasted for two days was pursued by police, firefighters and Coast Guard officers. Police initially made the identification of the missing man from an employee identification card left in an unclaimed pair of pants on the beach after the drowning incident. The medical examiner’s office and police from the 100 Precinct Detective Squad are investigating the death.
