St. John's Episcopal Hospital honored 55 volunteers with a luncheon on Thursday, April 27, during National Volunteers Week. Barbara Morris, President of the Rotary Club of Rockaway, delivered the keynote speech. Volunteers serve in a range of Hospital departments, including Hemodialysis, Dietary, Nursing, Admitting, Employee Health, the Hospitality Desk and many others. In 2005, the volunteers who were honored that day worked 12,991 man-hours. The volunteers range in age from 15 to more than 90 years old, and represent a cross section of society. Included among them are a retired dentist, a professor of literature, an aspiring pediatrician and a rabbi.
