A local 55-year-old man remains in critical but stable condition at Weill Cornell Medical Center's burn ward after a fire, so hot that it melted his shirt to his body, struck his home at 243 Beach 129 Street at about 4:34 p.m. on Thursday, March 26. While officials declined to identify the burned man, neighbors identified him to The Wave as Bart Feldman, who suffered second and third-degree burns to his back and legs. The allhands fire in the second-floor apartment, which brought 12 fire units and 60 firefighters to the scene, was declared as "suspicious." Fire officials say that the cause of the fire "remains under investigation." 003p1_xlg.jpg
