Eighteen people were injured Thursday afternoon when fire broke out in apartment 6G at 40-20 Beach Channel Drive. Flames spread into the public hallway forcing a partial evacuation of the building. Thirty-three FDNY units responded to the blaze, which took about an hour and a half to bring under control. Of the injured, 10 were firefighters and eight were civilians with minor injuries who were treated on scene. The Fire Marshal was investigating as The Wave went to press. Photo by D.
