Local boys Chris Moore and Kevin & Luke Erhard, who play for The Greater New York Stars hockey team at Abe Stark Rink in Brooklyn, won the Mite division championship this past weekend in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The team was able to record a perfect 5-0 record in the three-day tournament against some of New Jersey & Pennsylvania's talented youth hockey players. Behind the goaltending of Luke Erhard and the defensive play of Chris Moore & his partner Kevin Erhard, the Stars were able to hold off their opponents with one goal victories in both the semi & final championship games. The Stars showed some of the more respected and recognized youth hockey organizations of other states that the boys from the beach can play hockey as well. Children interested in learning to skate or to play hockey where Kevin, Chris & Luke learned can do so at no cost at Abe Stark Skating Rink, which is located next to Keyspan Park in Coney Island.
