Lieutenant Richard Davis, U.S. Army Air Corps, has his own tree with a plaque at its base on Rockaway Beach Boulevard near Beach 121 Street. Davis, a navigator on a B-24 bomber, was shot down and killed in action against the Nazis in 1944. This year, 65 years later, his sister traveled from her Pennsylvania home to Rockaway to remember her brother. Sue Wulf and her husband, Richard, were on hand at the tree on Monday for the Rockaway Memorial Day Parade. "We come every year," Wulf told The Wave. "We would not miss it." 026p1_xlg.jpg
