Peninsula Hospital Center, affiliate of the North Shore- Long Island Jewish Health System, hosted its Annual Community Health Fair last Saturday, offering free health screenings, blood pressure testing, cholesterol testing, respiratory testing, and breast health appointments. Additionally, educational materials were supplied on diabetes control, nutritional counseling, cancer care, healthy eating for children and pharmacy consulting and evaluation. This year's Health Fair focused on children's health and there was an abundance of educational materials geared towards the pediatric population 0of the Rockaways. Also on hand was a clown, face-painting, a children's librarian courtesy of the Queens Public Library who conducted very popular reading sessions, balloons, goldfish, coloring, games and prizes and musical entertainment for all the kiddies. Many children "of diverse ages" showed up to participate in all this year's event had to offer. Dr. Sadhana Gupta, Director of the Peninsula Hospital Family Health Center; Vincent Bosa, Vice President/Operations (back); Aditi Gupta; Bea Cordero, RN, Family Health Center; Lenita Chan, RN, Family Health Center; and Arjun Gupta (center front) welcomed children of all ages to their pediatric-friendly table at this year's Health Fair. Many children were given live fish to take home.
