Hundreds, perhaps more than a thousand locals lined Beach Channel Drive from Beach 92 Street to the tip of Breezy Point for a chance to glimpse and photograph the Space Shuttle Intrepid as it moved by barge from John F. Kennedy Airport to its new home at the Intrepid Air, Space and Sea Museum in Manhattan. Pictured, the shuttle moves under the Cross Bay Bridge after a small upset when it’s wing hit some pilings holding up the A Line subway bridge.
