This stingray, along with several other sea creatures and sand crabs, hang on a construction fence on the beachfront at Beach 91 Street, a sign of the battle between surfers and fishermen who share the ocean. The sign hanging with the denizens of the deep says, “Stingrays killed by a*****e fishermen for no reason, 8; a*****e fishermen killed by stingrays for being a******es, 0. Won’t you please do your part to even the score.” Old-timers say that particular battle of the beaches has been going on for as long as there has been a beach. Photo by Howard Schwach. 2p1.jpg
