Jane’s Walk, an annual series of neighborhood walking tours, which were named after urban activist and writer Jane Jacobs, took place this week in Rockaway Beach. Each particular walking tour gives an historical account of a specific neighborhood. The Rockaway Beach tour was hosted by Vivian Rattay Carter. The event takes place each year on the first weekend of May to coincide with Jacob’s birthday. Since its 2007 inception, the event has taken place in cities around the world. Topics discussed on walks can range from architecture to history and cultural influences. 57p2.jpg
