A police car on its way to a job collided with a civilian car at about 5:12 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, police sources say. The accident occurred at Beach 54 Street and the Rockaway Freeway. Two police officers were rushed to the Trauma Center at Jamaica Hospital with back and neck injuries. The ambulances carrying the cops were escorted by highway units that closed down portions of the Van Wyck Expressway to get the cops to the hospital center.
