The whole team wears their donated wool, hand-knit, running hats. Heather Bergstein and Mary Lou Risley—along with a crew of volunteers—knit hats each fall for different groups of our youth programs kids so they can be warm during their winter runs. Sportacus was on had for the presentation as well! This year, P.S. 197Q was one of the schools selected to receive the hats and they loved them! Mr. Reiss’ hat says “Coach!” Reiss, who just started his 5th successful year with our Mighty Milers program, told us, “The NYRR running programs give kids an opportunity to discover a lot about themselves. It helps to build their self-esteem; they learn to eat healthy and stay in shape; and it exposes them to new things in life that they would not have access to. I am very fortunate to have found this program for my students.” 70p2.jpg
