Coach Kerri Hubbard and the girls on The Scholars’ Academy volleyball team were looking forward to playing in the Queens High School of Teaching tournament for a few weeks now. It would give the team a chance to play against some higher seeded B division teams, as well as take on some teams in the A division. Starting off the day, the girls played rivals Fort Hamilton; a team Scholars’ defeated in the playoffs last year. It was a tight match, point for point, but The Scholars’ Academy came out on top defeating them in two sets. Other teams played that day, which included Queens High School of Teaching, High School for Construction and Walton Campus High School. The team defeated Flushing High School for the championship in two sets keeping their undefeated record alive. Nicole Glaz was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player and Honorable Mention was given to Athena McDonald-Smith and Megan LaCognanta. The Scholars’ Academy is looking forward to playing in the PSAL B division tournament on October 29.
