Lots of times people bring old photographs that they have found around the community to The Wave to share with our readers. These two photos fall into that category. Firefighter and author Kenneth Hogan came upon them at a postcard sale and happily turned them over to The Wave. The first, (inset, on the left), is dated 1921 and shows the Hammels Station on the old Long Island Railroad line. The dress of the day is particularly interesting. The sign on the building at the left of the photo says “Trains for Long Island City, Brooklyn and Pennsylvania Station, NY.” 33p1.jpg
