The members of First Congregational Church recently voted to contribute a portion of their benevolence funds to the Culinary Kids organization of Far Rockaway, in recognition of the exceptional service they provide to the community through their youth summer camp, food bank, and community supported agriculture project. A check was presented to Chefs Marion Moses (center) and Malisa Rivera (right) of Culinary Kids, by Vivian Carter of the church “green” committee (left). This Saturday, May 14 at 2 p.m., Culinary Kids is hosting another in a series of organic foods workshops at the Peninsula branch of the Queens Public Library, and they are pleased to welcome Dr. Martin Schreibman of Brooklyn College, a renowned expert on urban aquaculture. Dr. Schreibman will discuss his studies on tanks of tilapia fish he grows in his labs and his vision of the fish as a sustainable food source in New York City.
