The Doughboy Monument which stands in Memorial Plaza, on Beach 94 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard, has been a patriotic symbol in Rockaway for decades. The monument, which was sculpted by Joseph P. Pollia, was dedicated to the site on November 12, 1927. Pictured is Pollia finalizing his work in November, 1927.
