The intersection of Beach 108 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard has been problematic for years, with many fender-bender motor vehicle accidents as people attempt to turn from the cross street onto the busy boulevard. “There is so much turning and so many close calls in the middle of the intersection, it is ridiculous,” said Danny Ruscillo, the president of the 100 Precinct Community Council. On Friday morning last week, a motorist explains to police how her accident happened, while emergency medical technicians tend to her passenger. While nobody was badly hurt, police say that more than a dozen accidents have occurred at that intersection in recent months. In an attempt to lessen the problem, the Department of Traffic’s Signal Engineering Division has told Ruscillo that it will install a left turn arrow at that intersection by the end of June.
