Assemblywoman Audrey I. Pheffer (D-Queens) was happy to fund this year's "Red Ribbon Week: Proud to be Drug Free." October 27 kicked off a week of awareness of the dangers of drug abuse and promotion of the positive aspects of being drug free. "Keeping our children drug and alcohol free is a responsibility that we all must be a part of. I am proud to provide funding for these outstanding programs that promote education and awareness," said Pheffer. The assemblywoman also sponsored this year's Brooklyn Queens Diocese Drug Prevention Program's Bookmark Contest promoting awareness about the dangers of underage drinking. St. Francis de Sales, St. Camillus, St. Rose of Lima, St. Mary Star of the Sea, St. Helen's and Our Lady of Grace schools all participated in this year's "Underage Drinking: Not a Minor Problem" contest. Eileen Dwyer, director of PDHP, states, "We thank Assemblywoman Pheffer for the funding and assistance she has provided to ensure the success of this year's bookmark program."
