One of the first phases of the $56 million Cross Bay Bridge reconstruction is now complete. MTA and local officials commemorated the pedestrian walkway's re-opening to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week on the Rockaway side of the bridge at Beach 92 Street. The ten foot wide walkway features new concrete barriers, railings, asphalt pavement and an upgraded drainage system. According to MTA officials, more than thirty years of wear and tear in a salt-water area made the repairs necessary. Community Board 14 District Manager Jonathan Gaska and MTA facility engineer, Adrian Moshe cut the ribbon together on Thursday morning. 035p1_xlg.jpg
