For the first time in 28 years the NYC girls volleyball team won a medal at the Empire State Games. The games were held last month at the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, N.Y. The girls team of 10 was assembled in June and practiced at Queens College under the supervision of coach Pascal Pierre. The girls played their hearts out over three days against very strong competition from all over the state. On the last day they were able to beat the Hudson Valley team and secure the Bronze medal.
