Photo by Gail Johnson Two houses under construction succumbed to strong Winter Storm Stella winds on Tuesday, March 14, tumbling down on Jarvis Avenue near Beach 7th Street.

According to FDNY officials, the “all-hands” incident was deemed a “partial collapse” and was under control at approximately 11:04 a.m., after a search for persons injured came up negative.

“We just a heard a crash and bang and the houses fell down,” said Esther Goldfeder, who lives near the work site. “We thought the sounds were maybe rolling thunder and when it didn’t stop, we thought maybe a truck had crashed. Then we looked out the window and saw that the houses fell down. The fire department came right away, there were about 11 trucks and they closed off the street.”

The two luxury, residential homes – located at 704 Jarvis Ave., according to the FDNY – have been issued full stop work orders, according to the Department of Buildings (DOB) and the FDNY has requested a “structural stability inspection.”

According to DOB records, papers were filed and approved in 2014 to begin work on the luxury homes.

The work site has since been issued four Environmental Control Board (ECB) violations, two of which were construction violations.
