Charlie Leon Grant
Charlie Leon Grant, a custodian, died on June 16 at age 76.
A Far Rockaway resident for more than 40 years, Grant worked for Rockaway Metal Co. in Inwood for 20 years and the Nassau County Public School system for 23 years until he retired in 2012. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Rockville Centre, where he served as the Usher Board, President of the Eastern Baptist Usher Foundation, Club 72, the Minnie Anderson Foundation and Area President for Nassau County for many years.
Grant is survived by his godson, Akinwale Orisajinmi Jr; sisters, Carolyn Rhames, Sarah E. Newton, Ellen R. Boyd of and Frizella Heath Anderson; foster sister, Lorraine Jones (Jeffrey); brothers, Douglas M. Johnson, Johnnie Lee Johnson and Henry Glover; sistersin law, Joann Johnson, Margie Johnson and Willie Mae Johnson; brothers-inlaw, Anthony Newtonand Alonzo Badie; special cousin, Earline Ronie; special caregivers, Cynthia Palmer and Deloris Moultrie; special friends, Elizabeth Morris and Gregory and other nieces, extended cousins and friends.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home in Inwood.
