Youth Task Force Head Facing Charges
The head of a local youth activist group is being charged with allegedly choking a young woman in his office.
Milan R. Taylor, who runs the Rockaway Youth Task Force (RYTF), was arrested on June 5 after a woman, described as a “former friend,”reported he attacked her, and placed his hands on her neck, choking her.
According to law enforcement sources, Taylor was arrested at 11:09 p.m. at 1920 Mott Avenue in Far Rockaway, the RYTF headquarters.
He is being charged with assault with intent to cause physical injury, harassment in the second degree (physical contact), and two counts of criminal destruction of property. His next court date is scheduled for July 22.
"I am innocent of all the charges," said Taylor, when contacted by The Wave. "I look forward to my day in court, and I just hope I can move forward, and continue all of the work that I have done in the community, especially with domestic violence."
He confirmed the arrest, but declined to speak further.
