Addabbo To Bring Annual Rockaway Job Fair
Noting that Rockaway residents have been struggling to find employment since Sandy took down business after business, washed out hundreds of jobs State Senator Joseph Addabbo is bringing his successful job fair model to the peninsula. “Going on two years after the superstorm, it’s unacceptable that so many people in the Rockaway community are still without full-time or part-time work. Some who lost their full-time job now continue to work only part-time. As we continue to rebuild, we need to provide opportunities to make these residents whole, and better than before,” Addabbo said.
“As my constituents in these neighborhoods push on just to get their homes back up, I believe it is my duty to lessen any burden I can. That is why I want to bring the job opportunities to the people, by way of my Annual Job Fair,” he added.
The Job Fair will be held at the new YMCA in Arverne by the Sea, 207 Beach 73rd Street, which location in itself is an example of job creation and opportunity, said the senator. It will be on Friday, September 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Previously Senator Addabbo’s Job Fairs have brought in more than 1,000 attendees, over 100 vendors and roughly 1,200 job opportunities to each event.
Also upcoming is a 50+ Job Fair for seniors seeking employment, on Friday, May 30 at the Queens Community House, 80-02 Kew Gardens Road, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
