Do The Right Thing, Konigs

Dear Editor,

After reading the article in this week’s Wave, I am outraged that the Konig family has surfaced looking to apply for Sandy relief money. The Konigs are multi-millionaires and should be excluded from any Sandy relief money. I have watched the south end of Beach 116th Street deteriorate for more than 20 years and now the Konig family wants to obtain award money and claim they will use it for property development? This is an outrage to the small-business owners who have had to use their own money and resources to get their businesses back up and running. Let us also not forget the residents in the Rockaways and Broad Channel who have received ZERO relief money to fix their homes after Sandy. In my opinion the Konig family are nothing but opportunists looking to cash in on the Hurricane Sandy disaster that struck the Rockaways. The Konigs should have been involved in charitable donations to the Rockaway residents and business owners instead of acting like saviors to "develop" Beach 116th Street while sucking at the relief money like some parasites. Esther and Michael Konig, have you no shame or has greed infected your souls? The community has suffered enough in the Rockaways without the gimmickry you bring. This is our community! Do the right thing for once for Beach 116 Street.
