Point Breeze Fire Department Seeks Members

The Point Breeze Volunteer Fire Department wants you! As part of the fourth annual RecruitNY statewide initiative, PBFD will hold an event so residents can learn more about becoming a volunteer firefighter. Like most volunteer fire departments, the PBVFD needs to bolster its emergency responder numbers so it can continue to provide the optimum level of protection for its residents. So on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., the fire house at 29 Point Breeze Avenue (210th Street in Breezy Point) will hold a recruitment drive, as will many other volunteer fire departments across the state. The event will be an opportunity to highlight the duties and rewards that come with being a volunteer firefighter and raise public awareness about the need for volunteers. There will be tours of the station and firefighter apparatus, firefighter gear try-ons, and there will be various activities and stations throughout the firehouse. PBVFD members will discuss the requirements to be a volunteer, as well as conduct demonstrations, answer questions, and let visitors know how to get involved in the fire department. “Come on out and join us for these recruitment days at our firehouse, and decide if you can be one of many who protect our community” Chief of Department John Fahy said. “Come see for yourself the strong bond we have and dedication to service this department has for its neighbors.”
