Blueberry is a healthy 4 month old miniature Dachshund. Sadly, at the very young age of 3- months she was surrendered to an animal shelter in Ozone Park. Her original owners said that they could not take proper care of her since she had a lifethreatening surgical condition. The shelter's veterinarian told them it would cost $4,000 to repair and even then the prognosis was guarded. One of the doctors from the Animal Hospital of the Rockaways heard about this situation. He went to the shelter to examine the puppy.

Upon evaluating her condition he immediately transferred Blueberry to the Animal Hospital of the Rockaways. After a period of stabilizing her condition the veterinarians there were able to perform the needed lifesaving operation. The operation was 100 percent successful and soon Blueberry was a happy healthy puppy. The Animal Hospital of the Rockaways performed the surgery and did all the care free of charge.

Even though Blueberry has come to love her new temporary home it is time to find her a permanent family. The family has to be the right family for such a special puppy.

If you are interested in adopting this adorable puppy, she may be seen by appointment at The Animal Hospital of the Rockaways, 718-474-0500.

If you would like to contribute to help defray the cost of Blueberry's surgery there is a fund set up at the hospital located at 114-10 Beach Channel Drive.
