Come On, Already

Dear Editor:

I was on my way to the new YMCA to take an exercise class the other day when I got stopped at a vehicle checkpoint. Not only do I pass through two construction zones, an "off-roading" experience driving on Beach Channel in front of McDonalds and probably 18 stop lights on my 35 block trip to enjoy my new YMCA membership, then this checkpoint! Why does it take me 20 minutes to get there? Why does everything have to be so difficult?

If you ask me, these checkpoints need to be outside the schools where every day at any given time you will find cars easily going 50 to 60 mph in front of schools. Especially Beach Channel High School and Waterside PS 317. They need to focus their resources where it counts, not on minivan moms.
