Sunny Seal Sunbathing
In this case the sunbather was a seal.
“It was probably around 11 a.m.-12 p.m. on Sunday, between Beach 95th- 96th,” photographer Claudia Gaimaro said. “I was about 10-15 feet away from him. He was hanging on the sand, sunbathing. Every time the water came up and touched him he would move away, like he didn’t want to get wet.”
Among the onlookers there was some concern that the seal’s flipper was hurt, but, Gaimaro recalled, “I think in the end he was okay.”
Gaimaro, owner of Lola Sam Photography in Rockaway, commented “He almost seemed to be posing for me.”
It was reported the seal slipped back into the water around 1 p.m.
