Kevin Kearney Classic 5K

You can’t stop a dedicated runner or a good cause. Despite the rain, Rockaway runners and others came out for the Kevin Kearney Classic 5K on Saturday, March 29.

The run raises money for Sloan-Kettering for pancreatic cancer research and celebrates resident and runner Kevin Kearney.

The Rockapulco Run website describes Kearney as “an inspirational member of the community.” They note he was “diagnosed with pancreatic cancer over a year ago and continues to work a full time job, danced at his daughter’s wedding, and recently celebrated the birth of his first grandchild!”

After finishing out the event along Shore Front Parkway, runners and supporters celebrated, out of the rain, and inside the Irish Circle.
